THE SPINNERS
6:00 P.M. DAVE STAMEY
Friends of the Library benefit concert. Western singer and songwriter Dave Stamey has been a cowboy, a mule packer, and a dude wrangler, and is now one of the most popular Western entertainers working today. Twice voted “Entertainer of the Year,” three times “Male Performer of the Year” and twice “Songwriter of the Year” by the Western Music Association, he also received the Will Rogers Award from the Academy of Western Artists. Known for his warm, intimate performances, he has entertained audiences in 14 states with his superb guitar playing, singing and storytelling.
Stamey will perform at “Boots ‘n Books,” a benefit concert for the Friends of the Amador County Library, at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12 at the American Legion Hall, in Sutter Creek. Refreshments, silent auction, split-the-deck drawing, door prizes, and no-host bar will add to the fun of this event. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door, and can be purchased at Hein & Co. Bookstore, in Jackson, or by mail at 14000 Echo Drive, Sutter Creek.
“Boots ‘n Books” is sponsored by the Jackson Rancheria Casino & Hotel and the American Legion. Proceeds from the concert will be used to purchase items on the library “wish list,” which includes a downloadable e-book subscription, the Learning Express Library, a subscription to Mango Languages, a microfilm reader/printer, and new materials for the collection. SPEAKEAZY JAZZ ORCHESTRA
2:00 P.M. Amador Senior Center in Jackson, on New York Ranch Road.   Come dance or listen to the smooth sounds of the 12-piece Speakeazy Jazz Orchestra.
The band will play tunes of the 1920’s and 30’s using original band instrumentation, vintage music arrangements of the era, and features vocalist Chrissy Sleigh and others!
The Orchestra (SJO) has appeared this last year at Ironstone Vineyard’s Concours d’ Elegance,  the Dante Club in Sacramento, at ACRA’s New Years Eve party at Pokerville Hall, and made a special appearance at the Berkeley City Club.
$5 admission at the door. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Amador Senior Center. Mimi has been called "The New Queen of Ragtime" and "The Female Victor Borge.” This classically trained, versatile Ragtime Pianist/Comedian puts on a witty and colorful show storytelling and playing the history of ragtime on the black and white ivory keys. Her music engages the audience causing laughter and tears and is full of crazy stunts and surprises — touching souls. Sixth Regional Young Musicians’ Competition Winners The Mother Lode Friends of Music, the performing arts society based in Jackson, announces its sixth regional competition for young musicians.  Open to music students of high school age or younger residing in the counties of Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne and El Dorado, the competition will culminate in a public concert of the winners that will take place in Sutter Creek on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at 2:00 p.m.  Students learning the classical repertory of all string and wind instruments, piano and voice are invited to apply.  Please see the home page of this website  to find out more!
